Promoting Health and Wellness Throughout the Life Span

What We Do

At Community Wellness Clinic, our treatment is based on a holistic approach. We understand  that those experiencing mental illness benefit from the support of not only our team at Community Wellness Clinic, but also from those they consider family, a supportive community,  primary care physicians, use of non-traditional, culturally accepted healing practices, and also support from their peers. Our services are provided in a safe environment and are offered from a culturally sensitive lens. Services include comprehensive assessments, individual and group therapy, case management, crisis intervention, co-occurring groups and treatment, rehabilitation activities, medication management, peer support, supportive employment services, skill development, and education about mental illness.

Community Wellness Clinic is made up of a diverse interdisciplinary team of mental health providers who come from varying cultural and professional backgrounds. We believe that this diversity serves to help us better partner with you in your recovery journey

Success Story

Alex was suffering from severe depression and anxiety, coupled with substance use struggles, when he joined our Community Wellness Clinic. Along with providing mental health services, we collaborated with substance use treatment programs to ensure that he was consistently receiving the support he needed. After Alex graduated from his substance use treatment program, CWC intensified our services to provide support with structure and activities of daily living. With our services, he was able to secure gainful employment and was able to successfully transition this individual to his primary care provider for ongoing treatment. This individual is now able to provide for his own needs, work full time and continue to monitor his own treatment.

Program Manager

Kat Torres

Katherin Torres, LMFT

Katherin (aka Kat) is the program manager at UPAC Community Wellness Clinic. Kat is the daughter of immigrants and attributes much of her ambition in her career to the influence of her parents’ hard work and humility.

Kat is an LMFT who first joined the mental health field in 2011 and provided ACT level of services to TAY who had been diagnosed with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and were homeless/at risk for homelessness. Since then, Kat has provided therapy to different ages including children, adults, and older adults from all different backgrounds, and has done so in both English and Spanish. Kat believes in meeting clients where they are at and in treating clients with respect and understanding. Kat was also previously Lead Clinician at UPAC-CWC in 2019. She then became the Clinical Director with Telecare-Behavioral Health Court in 2020. Kat is excited to be back at UPAC where she considers it to be home and knows she can continue to grow as a clinician and a leader.

Kat is a big believer of providing hope for recovery to those who have mental health conditions and enjoys providing training and to staff who provide direct services to those who are underserved and underrepresented.
