Alcohol and Drug Prevention

Fighting San Diego's growing alcohol and drug problem is a community-by-community effort. UPAC's Pan Asian Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program is designed to increase awareness and involvement in alcohol and drug (AOD) prevention efforts in the Cambodian, Filipino, Lao, Vietnamese, and other ethnic communities. The program provides culturally and linguistically appropriate prevention and education services, and facilitates community response to alcohol and other drug problems.

Activities for youth include cultural performance groups, sports clinics, cultural heritage celebrations, Neighborhood Watch meetings, graffiti paint-out, community clean-up, and youth advocacy efforts. Other community-based activities include conferences and workshops involving community leaders, gatekeepers, youth, parents, at-risk families, ethnic organizations, and service providers.
