Promoting Health and Wellness Throughout the Life Span

What We Do

The Next Steps program is provided in collaboration with NAMI San Diego, Mental Health Systems, and Family Health Centers of San Diego. Next Steps is a peer and family support program based at the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital and open to adults 18 years and over who are facing mental health, substance use and physical health challenges. The program offers individualized service plans that help connect clients transitioning out of the mental health system with community resources, employment coaching, housing assistance, outpatient clinics and more. Staff members provide support and encouragement and instill hope. Next Steps aims to reduce the stigma related to mental illness and substance use that often creates significant barriers to recovery.

Who We Serve

Adults 18 years of age or older who are experiencing mental health and substance abuse disorders. Family members are also eligible to receive support. Referrals are accepted from the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital and County operated mental health centers. To learn more about the program, call 619-232-6454 x817.
